King of Saudi Arabia goes to America

Saudi Arabia's King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz

The elderly king of Saudi Arabia plans to travel to the United States for medical treatment as he is suffering from a herniated disc. King Abdullah was admitted to hospital on Friday after a blood clot complicated his back problem. The 85-year-old Sultan has himself been undergoing cancer treatment for years and spends much of his time living in Morocco.

The ailing king has curtailed his activities since June. The illness also forced the monarch to miss his last cabinet meeting.
