The Thanet Offshore Wind Farm opened on 23 September 2010, boosting UK wind energy capacity by 30%. The Gunfleet Sands Offshore Wind Farm is visible off the Essex coast (centre top), and the port town of Dover is seen in the bottom as a white circular feature on the coastline.
