Fireball Lights up Jupiter

This raw video by amateur astronomer Anthony Wesley shows the brief two-and-a-half second flash of a small comet or asteroid burning up in the atmosphere of Jupiter. The flash appears at the upper left of the planet. Wesley recorded this video at 60 frames per second in red wavelengths of light on a 37-centimeter (14.5-inch) telescope he had set up in a friend's backyard in Broken Hill, Australia. The flash appears on the upper left of the frame. Image credit: A. Wesley.
