The United Nations have said they will not be appointing an 'alien ambassador' who would be in charge of making contact with extra terrestrials - as has been claimed. For about 48 hours a little known Malaysian astrophysicist made international headlines with newspaper claims that the United Nations had or was going to appoint her as earth's official first contact for aliens.
The story first carried by Britain's Sunday Times newspaper sounded plausable as Datuk Dr Mazlan Othman currently head's the UN's Office for Outer Space Affairs, the United Nations office responsible for promoting international cooperation in the peaceful uses of outer space.
Malaysian astrophysicist Mazlan Othman has officially denied media reports that she was selected by the United Nations to represent earthlings in their future dealings with aliens. "The article in the Sunday Times is nonsense."
